December Daily 2014 | Days 13-15

Another couple days in the bag for December Daily!

I know I'm still a bit behind, and I'm hoping to be caught up real soon. If I could only get more sleep at night (ahem, Dominique), maybe I'd have more brain power to do this in the evening.

As it is right now, I'm not really feeling to Christmas-sy at the moment. I'm not sure if it's from baby demands, lack of sleep or the lack of snow outside this year. I'm hoping that I'll be feeling more merry once Christmas hits.

Anyway, onto the layouts for Days 13-15

Day 13:
Non-Christmas related, but really the only story of the day. Poor Nique was sick and had to go see the doctor at the walk-in clinic this morning. And on antibiotics for the next week due to an upper respiratory infection. Poor girl.

Day 14:

Both girls got invited to a Birthday Party at Build-A-Bear Workshop for a friend of ours. And because of the amount of pages, I made it a 2-page layout. A couple small photos and journalling on the left side and an enlarged group photo on the right side.

Day 15:

The journalling is pretty self explanatory with the baking day that I had. Violet was more than willing to help me cut out the shapes for the sugar cookies. Again, because of the amount of photos, the left side is my favourite one enlarged and the right page is a couple small photos and journalling.

December Daily 2014 | Days 10-12

Welcome to Days 10-12 of December Daily!

I know I said that I'd be caught up over the past weekend, but then Nique got sick and didn't want to sleep at night, never mind everything else as well. Oh well.

Day 10:
The journalling is pretty self-explanatory. It was nice to be able to get out of the house for a couple hours with the girls and let them play with other kids around their age. Violet was the oldest one and she did great playing with the two 2-year-olds that were there. Some days that girls amazes me with how responsible she can be at such a young age.

Day 11:
For today, I actually didn't have a Christmas-related story or anything of the like. I had only taken these 2 photos, so when it came time to put the layout together, I was a bit stumped. And then it hit me. Why not make a layout of one major thing the girls did today? And it worked and I had the photos to go along with it.

Day 12:
The journalling is pretty self explanatory. Violet loved watching the Silhouette cut everything out and helped me put them up on the windows afterwards.

I will try to be caught up in the next couple days, but I'm not making any promises on that. Tonnes of stuff to do around the house + kids + holiday prep = craziness.

December Daily 2014 | Days 7-9

Welcome to Days 7-9 of December Daily!

Took a tiny break from posting there for a couple days, but I'm back with an update! Actually, I just fell behind in making my layouts until I had enough time during nap-time today to catch up on them. I'm posting Days 7-9 today, and I'll post a couple more tomorrow and then hopefully be back on track for next week.

Day 7:
Today's layout features a long and good story of today. It turned into an impromptu Family Date, complete with swimming and going to Famous Dave's for supper. Violet absolutely loved swimming and Dominique was pretty good with it to. We took them into the shallow end of the lap pool (where we could stand but Violet couldn't), and Keith started teaching Violet a bit of swimming. Nique was just content to be in my arms looking around at all the water and talking away. Both girls had a blast and after we were done, Keith decided to take us out to Famous Dave's for supper. And it was good! We all shared one of the smaller Feasts and still had food to take home. Bonus part was both girls behaving really well in the restaurant. Another bonus part was that both girls slept on the way there and back!

Day 8:
Today's story is self-explanatory in the journalling. I wasn't too happy with quite a few of the photos, mainly due to poor lighting, 2 kids that kept on moving (or posing) all the time and that orange/brown wall that threw a bad glare. Luckily I was able to clean it up a bit.

Day 9:
Again, more self-explanatory in the journalling. And believe me, we all stuffed ourselves full of food and there was still lots left over!

Come back tomorrow for a couple more days of catch-up!

December Daily 2014 | Day 6

Welcome to Day 6 of December Daily!

Today was a day of just lounging around the house, geeking out and watching movies. And it was a good day. I didn't take any photos, as I was planning on making today just a journal day. And it worked out perfectly!

I did the journalling in the Project Life App on my phone so that I could use the Christmas-themed kit and then imported it into my program on the computer, added a background paper and called it done!

December Daily 2014 | Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of December Daily!

There wasn't much going on today, so I decided to document the sister love between the two girls. How can you not?
Just a 7.5x4 inch photo pared with journalling and a digital brush from Ali Edwards Heart Happy. A really simple page overall, but still tells the story behind it.

December Daily 2014 | Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of December Daily!

I'm a couple days behind in posting, just have patience. I do have the layouts done, just haven't had time to post lately. Dominique has been teething lately, which has been sapping my energy day and night. Add to that a 3-year-old who is being a bit whiny and an attention hog, and I have no time to myself until they're in bed at night. I will get caught up with posting though.

Anyway, enough about me, onto the layout for Day 4!
As you can tell from the journalling, today was visiting my Grandparents so that Violet could get her nails painted by Meme. Apparently I'm not good enough anymore. And you know what? I'm fine with that. These are my only grandparents remaining and the only Great-Grandparents who ask for us to come down so that they can see the great-grandkids. And I really do love that.

December Daily 2014 - Beginning Page and Days 1-3

Ah, December. I love that you're here. I love the twinkle lights, the Christmas carols on the radio, the Christmas decorations up in full displays, the Christmas story of Jesus being told to all kids. And my favourite project of December: December Daily.

Yup, I'm at it again. And love it. Last year I did a 6x8 album and liked it. This year, I'm switching it up to a digital 8x8 album. One of the main reasons for going digital is time. With 2 kids right now, it gets really busy around the house. And with a tight budget, it makes it a bit hard to get the supplies that I need and print out photos as well. So digital wins out this year.

For setting up my pages I'm using the StoryBook Creator from Creative Memories (now defunct) and once everything is done, I'll import them to Shutterfly and print them off when funds allow.

I'll be posting every 2-3 days, so keep checking back!

Front Page:
For the front page, I used Ali's free download that's available on her website. I just noted a couple reasons for documenting this Christmas season this year.

December 1:
As the journalling mentions, it was the start of Christmas baking in the house! Violet helped me with most of it, and I had to quickly put quite a bit of it away in the freezer before Keith and Violet keelhauled it. And there's still more to bake yet. The word stamp is from Ali Edwards Handdrawn Holiday.

December 2:
I got an unexpected evening free of kids so that I could go to my Girl's Night. Violet was at my Dad's for the night to have a sleepover with her cousin Madison. And Keith said it was OK if I left Dominique behind at home (as long as she was sleeping) so that I could go out. I'm so glad that it worked out for all of us. And it was much needed.

December 3:
Today was all about putting up the (fake) tree and decorating it. Violet was more than happy to help put the decorations on while Nique lay on the floor and watched. And as soon as we were done, Violet looked at me and said "Thank you for help with Christmas!" Lol. I even managed to get a photo of them in front of the tree, which was just awesome as well. Digital brush is from Ali Edwards All I Want For Christmas.

December Daily 2013 - Days 18 - 21

Day 18:
Today was all about documenting unpacking from our trip and scrapbooking. Both card are from December Documented.
The journaling reads: Today while Violet napped and Keith was at WarHammer, I managed to keep up with 6 loads of laundry AND get caught up on my December Daily. Next up: Project Life catch-up.

Day 19:
I caught some perfect pictures today of what our day looked like. Mainly, all of us lazing around on the couch. I think we're trying to store up all our energy for the slew of Christmas gatherings next week.

Day 20:
My youngest nephew (on my side) had his first birthday today. He wasn't quite sure what to make of all of the fuss about him.
The journal card is from Karenika Holiday Overlays with Airplanes in the Night Sky as the font.
The journaling reads: Today was our nephew Payton's 1st Birthday! We went over to Natalie & Brett's place after supper for cake and presents. Payton did really good opening his gifts and actually stayed pretty clean eating his cake! Happy Birthday Mr. Payton!

Day 21:
The journaling says it all. The journal card is from PL Merry and Bright.
The journaling reads: This evening was Keith's Work Christmas Party for Esco at DC Grill and Steakhouse in LaBroquerie. The food and conversation were pretty good and it was nice to get out after a hectic week. Oh, and this is me at 22 weeks pregnant!

One more post to catch-up on DD 2013, and then I'm done!

December Daily 2013: Days 15 - 17

Day 15:
Today was spent on the road with our first family trip to Minneapolis. This picture was taken as we were crossing the Canada/US Border into North Dakota. We had good driving weather and Violet behaved herself. Bonus!
The Oh What Fun card is from December Documented and the journal card is from PL Merry and Bright.
The journaling reads: December 15 (Sunday) was spent driving from home in MB, Canada to Grand Forks for lunch and stretch the legs and then on to Minneapolis, MN, where we are spending a couple days of vacation. Namely shopping at the Mall of America. Weather was gorgeous and Violet did AWESOME for spending so much time in the car!

Day 16:
This day was spent in Minneapolis, namely Mall of America. We managed to do all our Christmas shopping, as well as go to the Sea Life Aquarium. Violet loved in there and so did Keith.
The journal card is from PL Merry and Bright with some stamps from Bo Bunny. The digital stamp on the family photo is from Ali Edwards Pound Grateful.
The journaling reads: Today we spent in Mall of America. Managed to find it among all the exit ramps and then went SHOPPING! We bummed around the entire mall, grabbed food and then did some Christmas shopping. Stopped by LEGO Land and Nickelodian Universe. Also did the SeaLife Aquarium, which we all loved! Violet was in love with the Jellyfish and Sting-Rays.

Day 17:
This was the day we decided to go home (I'll explain in a different blog post). And of course, the roads were icy hell from Minneapolis to Fargo. Took us 5 hours to make a 3 hour drive. Luckily Violet slept and we made it to Grand Forks safely. And of course while in Grand Forks, I had to stop in at Hobby Lobby. I think I was in Heaven!
I used a December Documented card for the Date, a PL Merry and Bright card for the journaling and stickers from Basic Grey.
The journaling reads: We started our drive home today. Stopped in Grand Forks for lunch and to stretch our legs. Went into Hobby Lobby and was in Heaven with everything they had for scrapbooking! Didn't buy anything though.

December Daily 2013 - Day 8 - 11

Day 8:
I didn't have any photos from today, so I made my Christmas wish list. Maybe I'll get some of it??
The Merry Die-Cut is from December Documented by Simple Stories.

Day 9:
Today me and Violet (hopefully) started a new Christmas Tradition of making our own Wrapping Paper. I had a huge roll of paper that I had bought from the MCC (our local thrift store) for $1 back in the summer. Since buying lots of wrapping paper can get expensive (even buying Dollar store paper as you don't get much), this is my cheap alternative.
Violet loves to colour and basically screeches with glee when I pull it out. She got right to work doing all her colouring. And in no time, I had enough paper to wrap a couple gifts. Yeah!
I used Project Life Merry & Bright for the date and journal cards. Also decided to try my hand at using a transparency with some stickable gems that I had. Slightly surprised that it turned out!

Day 10:
I finally got my lazy butt out to my shed in the back yard (and through lots of snow) to get my Christmas tree out. Violet helped me set it up (as best as she could) and then in the evening, me and Violet decorated it with Keith's supervision.
The journal cards are from Project Life Merry and Bright as well as December Documented.

Day 11:
We finally got to see Baby #2 today as I had my Ultrasound appointment! Baby is doing good and everything looks to be right on track.
The journal card is from PL Merry & Bright with the date card made from Baby Word Art by Ali Edwards.

December Daily 2013 - Days 5 - 7

Day 5:
Today for December Daily, I attempted making cookies again. The last couple times I've made cookies, they haven't turned out like they should. So I found a different recipe and tried it.
I THINK THE COOKIE GODS LOVE ME!

The Title Card is a December Daily Sentiment Box and the Journal Card and Die-Cut are from December Documented by Simple Stories.

Day 6:
Today my sister-in-law Jen came down with her daughter to spend some time with us. Violet absolutely loved showing off and playing around.
The Title Card is from Karenika Holiday Overlays, with the Journal Card from Project Life Merry and Bright and a Die-Cut from December Documented by Simple Stories.

Day 7:
This evening we headed to the city on a Family Date Night. We went to The Forks and took some pictures of the Legislative Building in Christmas lights.
I used a Merry Die-Cut from December Documented by Simple Stories for my journaling.

December Daily - Days 12-14

I'm combining a couple days of DD on today's post.

Day 12:
I found the perfect spot to hang our Christmas stockings from: the coat closet! It's perfect as it's out of reach and  Violet can't reach it.

The journal and filler cards are from PL Merry & Bright.

Day 13:
Me and my sister Sam did our yearly tradition of watching a Lord of the Rings movie. Today's was the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Awesome!

The journal card is from PL Merry & Bright and the digital stamps are both from Hand-Drawn Holidays by Ali Edwards.

Day 14:
I had no photos from today, so I journaled about getting ready to leave on our family vacation. All cards are from PL Merry & Bright, with Wood Veneers from Basic Grey.

December Daily 2013 - Day 4

Sorry for the lack of posting. I've been away for a week on family vacation and didn't realize that it's been a while since I've posted my December Daily. Also, it sucks not having a small printer at home. Maybe for Christmas, Santa?

I'm going to do a couple days of December Daily to try to "catch up" to where I am now. So I am sorry for flooding your newsfeeds.

Day 4:
My best friend Sabrina gave me her recipe for her homemade Toffee. I've had it before and it's delish! I used the journal card from PL Merry and Bright, with a Joy stamp from Joy Flair by Ali Edwards, as well as a Wood Veneer star from 25th and Pine from Basic Grey. The recipe card is from Sabrina.

December Daily 2013 - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of December Daily 2013!

Our plans originally today were to go to the city after Keith was done work. We changed them once we saw the weather and decided that we'd go a different day. So instead, I went and made and ordered our Christmas cards. I was able to print a couple off at the local printer to make sure that they turned out OK. And they did!

The Journal Card is from Merry and Bright and I designed the card myself with one of the family photos that we had done at Violet's 2-year photo shoot.

Here's a look at the actual card:

LOVE IT!

December Daily 2013 - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of December Daily 2013!

This month I'm playing along with Ali Edwards in December Daily, documenting the entire month of December.

Even though today's thing wasn't Christmas related at all, it's still worth documenting and remembering (although I didn't get the photo I wanted. Boo!). We don't go down to my Meme and Pepe's house often enough, so when my Mom invited me and Violet to come along this morning, I jumped at the chance. It was nice to get out and just spend some time with them as they are my last grand-parents that are alive.

The date card is from Karenika Holiday Overlays and the journal card is from Simple Stories. The digital stamp is from Ali's Embracing the Everyday

The journaling reads:
Today me and Violet went with my Mom and Payton to go visit my Meme and Pepe for a bit in the morning. Violet, as usual, played shy with Pepe and was just interested in Payton. It was nice to see them again, as we haven't been able to get out to see them much and I know that they love seeing their grand and great-grand kids as well.

December Daily 2013 - Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of December Daily 2013!

This month I'm playing along with Ali Edwards in December Daily, documenting, the entire month of December.

Today was a jam packed day, which included me being up for 19 hours straight (4am-11pm), but I loved it. Work, family time, in-laws and more family time is just the way I like to spend my Sundays. Oh, and hearing Violet go crazy with her cousins playing hide-n-seek with the Grandparents.

I almost documented going down to the in-laws and all the fun Violet had, but the photo that Keith sent to me this morning while I was at work made my day and just made me laugh while I was going crazy at work.

The date card is from December Daily 3x4 Sentiment Boxes and the journal card is from Simple Stories. The digital stamp is from Ali's Little Bit of Messy Photos and re-colored.

The journaling reads:
Keith sent me this photo of Violet sleeping this morning while I was at work. Violet's taken to sleeping on the floor lately and this is how he found her at 8:30am. We're guessing that the floor is much more comfortable for her to sleep and she can't lose Teddy Bear as easily. Either way, she is sleeping and that's what counts.

December Daily 2013 | Album Cover and Plans

I've decided to tackle December Dauly again this year. If you've never heard of December Daily, I'd suggest taking a look at Ali Edwards' site and everything she has on December Daily.

December Daily is, in basic terms, documenting the month of December as the Christmas Season. There is a lot going on during this busy month and it helps having a daily documentation for it. I'm not saying to fully document everyday like Week in the Life. It's taking one story/moment from the day and writing about that. It can be Christmas stuff like getting a tree and putting up decorations and/or regular everyday stuff like doctor visits and grocery shopping.

I'm choosing to go with whatever story sticks out to me that day, whether or not it's Christmas related. And this year will be a good one to document. It's Violet's 3rd Christmas, I'm pregnant and we're planning a week long trip just before Christmas. So it is a good time to document all this.

That being said, I'm going to share some of my prep that I'm doing in order to be ready for when December comes and what I've got planned.

First things first, the album cover.

picked up an 6x8 album from Simple Stories that I think will work out great. It came pre-loaded with page protectors and full sheets of lined/decorated paper. I had some white cardboard paint on hand, so I gave it 2 coats of that. I think it actually needed at least 1, if not 2 more coats, but I was being a bit impatient. As I don't have my Hobby Room anymore (being turned into the Baby Room), I had to do my painting at the table with Violet.

Once it was fully dried, I grabbed a couple different colours of Stickles and got to work writing our last name, what the album was (December Daily, obviously) and the year that was in there. I left a bit of space on top of the 2013 to see if I could possibly fit my 2012 DD in there as well.

It's a very simple cover, but I like it.

December Daily 2012 - Day 31

For New Year's Eve, we went to a poker game that one of our friends was putting on. It was a no-kids night, so Violet went to Poppa's place for the night as we didn't know when we were getting home. Keith played poker while I read my book and watched The Walking Dead marathon. Keith walked away with $30 and we got home around 1:30am.

December Daily 2012 - Day 30

I has the Bestest Hubby in the World! As I had made Cinnamon Buns last week, Keith decided that he'd show me how it's done. So he made them completely from scratch, dough, filling and cream cheese icing. Needless to say, I've had 2 and Violet has had 1 already and asking for a second. Yummy!

December Daily 2012 - Day 29

I had a Baby Shower in the city after I was done work today in which Keith orchestrated that I could go to. Smart guy. Afterwards, we went to Wendy's for supper and Violet got her very own fry box which she devoured and just made silly faces at us the entire time. Think she was happy she didn't have to share.
