December Daily 2012 - Day 30

I has the Bestest Hubby in the World! As I had made Cinnamon Buns last week, Keith decided that he'd show me how it's done. So he made them completely from scratch, dough, filling and cream cheese icing. Needless to say, I've had 2 and Violet has had 1 already and asking for a second. Yummy!

December Daily 2012 - Day 29

I had a Baby Shower in the city after I was done work today in which Keith orchestrated that I could go to. Smart guy. Afterwards, we went to Wendy's for supper and Violet got her very own fry box which she devoured and just made silly faces at us the entire time. Think she was happy she didn't have to share.

December Daily 2012 - Day 28

Last of the Christmas gatherings today and it was my grandparents on my Mom's side. Everyone came out to Natalie's place and enjoyed good food, company and of course, gift opening! Violet got quite a few toys and clothes, which will just be added to the growing piles at home.

In the evening after Violet went to bed, me and Keith watched an episode of Sherlock and The Expendables. It was almost midnight by the time I got to bed.

December Daily 2012 - Day 27

We finally didn't have any gatherings today!! So me and Violet spent the day at home while Daddy was at work. Violet decided to break in her new chair that she got from one of her grandparents by rocking it back and forth and then toppling it over backwards. But no tears or crying. Just laid there with her hands behind her back, chilling.

December Daily 2012 - Day 26

Today saw 2 (!) gatherings. One with Keith's grandparents and one with my Mom. Good food and good visiting. Otherwise, nothing much went on today.

Oh Noes....

Unfortunately, due to the effects of Laryngitis, I'm behind a bit in my December Daily. I'm hoping to make and post the past 4 days once V goes down for her afternoon nap and before we head to my Dad's for Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas!!!

December Daily 2012 - Day 24

This evening we were at my Dad's place for the last Christmas in that house. It was good to make some memories and even better to see my niece and nephew playing around with Uncle Keith.

December Daily 2012 - Days 20-23

So, as stated in a recent post, I had came down with Laryngitis on Friday and therefore it has stolen all of my energy. Luckily I seem to be on the mend now, so here are the past 4 days in one post!

On the 20th, my sister Natalie had her 3rd kid, a little baby boy named Payton. Despite being 12 days early, he's healthy and doing good. So is Mama. And I'm a proud Auntie again!

On the 21st, me and my sister Sam took my Mom to go see The Hobbit. It was so worth the wait! Now just to wait until next year to see Part 2.

On the 22nd, as I was sick, I just decided to write a note to my awesome and bestest hubby ever. My oh my, do I ever love this guy!

The 23rd turned out to be a 2-page spread as I had so many photos from a gathering with Keith's Mom and Step-Dad. Violet got some good gifts and me and Keith got exactly what we was asking for!

December Daily 2012 - Day 19

I had my niece for most of the afternoon/evening today and we had a blast. Figured I might as well document it as well. Violet loved it because she had someone to play with and Madison loved the individual attention that she got.

Teething, and Tantrums, and Friends, Oh My!!

Where to begin on this one...

First of all, Violet is cutting her top 2 molars (the 1st ones on each side). Yes, at the same time. Luckily, she's not too cranky during the day, although evening is a different story. But she is eating everything that I'm giving her and then some. But at least she is happy for the most part.

Second, Violet has figured out how to throw a tantrum (just a little one). Mainly happens when she's hungry and I'm not fast enough in getting her food. She'll literally sit there, cry and then double over so that it looks like she's praying while she cries. It is quite funny to see. But as soon as she realizes that Mommy has food, all is right in the world.

Thirdly (and this is more for me), I've realized that a certain "friend" is no longer needed in my life. We had a huge blow-up over something (not going into details), but now I'm blocked from her FaceBook, blogs and Twitter. Really? Sigh. In the end though, I do realize it's for the better all around. Especially when that someone calls me a horrible person and friend. That had actually hurt a bit because I didn't think that I was a horrible person. But then when I was talking to one of my other girlfriends, she begged to differ about the other person point of view about me.
In her words: You're not a horrible person/friend. You open up your house to us girls every Tuesday and let us stay until midnight just chatting away, even if your daughter has been keeping you up at night. You always have drinks and snacks for us because chatting can be exhausting! You always have an ear to hear us out and let us vent and we know that what we say is safe in your house. And you never ask for anything in return, just good friendship.

Awww.....

Vent over :)

December Daily 2012 - Day 18

I was almost out of ideas for today and then realized that I had my Christmas Card Wall. So that was the photo for today.

December Daily 2012 - Day 17

This evening we had our Cell Group Christmas Party at church. It was potluck style and a blast. The guys played games and us ladies held babies and chatted. Oh, and stuffed our faces with food. Yummy.

December Daily 2012 - Day 16

Today's adventure (after I was done work) was the Ginter gathering me and Violet went to. Keith opted to stay home.

Had a good time at the gathering, enjoyed some food and games.

December Daily 2012 - Day 15

Gasp! No picture today! Oh well.

Instead for today, I wrote a note to V. She went to her Poppa's place for the night and seeing as I had no pictures, I might as well write her a letter.

December Daily 2012 - Day 14

Today was my Mom's 50th birthday party. And it was a "surprise." I think she knew about it.

But she was happy to see all us kids there and to see all her grandkids as well. I think that made her day.

She's been through a lot in the past year, but I think she'll do just fine.

December Daily 2012 - Day 13

So today as I was racking my brains with what to do for today's DD, I had this brilliant idea: Write a letter to Santa from me.

I think it's awesome. Nothing big, but keeps some of the Christmas spirit alive.

December Daily 2012 - Day 12

Turned out to be a movie night!

After Violet went to bed, me and Keith cuddled up on the couch and watched Brave. It was actually a toss-up between Brave or a new episode of Sherlock.

December Daily 2012 - Day 11

Today is a day when I absolutely love my daughter to bits and pieces!

I had set up our tree yesterday (a fake one that Keith had bought on Sunday) and decorated and stashed presents under there today while Violet napped. Once she got up and went into the living room to play with her toys, she didn't even pay attention to it at all. No gawking at the lights, no trying to go for the presents. Nothing. Just sat there, playing with her toys and completely ignoring the tree.

So of course I documented it. It was just priceless not to.

December Daily 2012 - Day 10

15 more days until CHIRSTMAS!!

Nothing much went on today. And the only photo I took was of me before bed, with messy hair, big comfy sweater and looking blah. But oh well.

December Daily 2012 - Day 9

Haha!! Christmas Tree time!

Every year we go down to my parent's place (now just my Dad's), and help decorate the tree. It's been like this since I was a little kid. Now that we're all married and have kids of our own, it's turned into a family tradition. And up until this year, my Grandma W would come down and "supervise" us, but with her gone now, this is the first Christmas without her.

And we also found out that my Dad's house has just been sold, so this will be the last Christmas there as well. It is for the better though, as there are so many memories of Mom and Dad in that house, that now with them split and soon divorced, it's better this way.

So while everyone decorated the tree, I "supervised" as my back was hurting from standing at work all day over the coffee machines. And it looks pretty good.

December Daily 2012 - Day 8

Gotta love having a husband who love playing video games.
Got home after work today to find Hubby playing with some friends on the Wii and "killing" each other. Sigh. Boys and their toys. :)

December Daily 2012 - Day 6

19 days left until Christmas!!

I was almost worried that I wouldn't have anything for today. And then this happened. Keith surprised me with a dozen roses and a box of After Eight chocolates for no reason after work! I even asked him what the occasion was, and his answer was just because. Have I ever mentioned how much I love this guy??!!

December Daily 2012 - Day 5

Hello December 5th!

Can I say that I'm still excited about this project?? Please??!! It's (so far) been pretty awesome to document everyday with something, even if it's not Christmas-sy (yes, that's a word).

Today, it was playing in bed with Violet. She absolutely loved it and kept rolling over, sitting up and then throwing herself backwards and having a tickle fight with Mommy. Oh, and also got into the clean laundry that was on the bed. Oops. :)

December Daily 2012 - Day 4

Day 4 is here!!!!

Nothing much happened today except that I finally (!!!) ordered our Christmas Cards. SuperStore was having a sale on 4x6 for $0.10 each (with a min. purchase of 100)! Sweet!! So I ordered 100 of them and hopefully they'll be here by the end of this week or early next week.

December Daily 2012 - Day 3

Day 3 is here!!!

Today's adventure: my ambitious baking. I decided that we needed some home-made snacks in the house and went on a baking spree.
What was made? Brownies, chocolate chip cookies and unbaked cookies.
The highlight: watching Violet lick the beaters for the first time.

December Daily 2012 - Day 2

Onto Day 2 of December Daily!

Today was a more relaxed day, except for me working the morning/afternoon (have I ever stated how much I miss my weekends with my family?? Sigh...)

So today's layout was about wrapping all the Christmas gifts bought yesterday (well, almost all. I ran out of wrapping paper and still have a couple to go) and spending time with Violet.

Stuff used: StoryBook Creator, Holiday-Whimsical kit from Creative Memories for background page and embellishments, ElizaJane font for the Title, Catholic SchoolGirlz font for journaling.

Love how it turned out!

December Daily 2012 - Page 1

So since today is the official start to December Daily, I thought I'd post my December 1st layout that I did.

Basically I was at work really early (the time there is the time I woke up), dropped Violet off at the Grandparents and we went to the city for supper with friends and to finish off all our Christmas shopping.

Busy day!!

Oh, and some info about the page: I'm using Creative Memories StoryBook Creator to do all my pages digitally, using the Holiday Whimsical backgrounds and embellishments (free download only from Creative Memories). Just makes it look/feel like Christmas.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday, Nov 29:

1) I know I've been saying this every week, but I am really thankful for V. She is growing in leaps and bounds and exploring everything right now. Even on her cranky and miserable days (you would be to if you were teething and there is no more soother), she still brings joy to my day. And I always want to be thankful for that.

2) Keith: that man, is well.....my man :). He take care of us in every way possible and then some.

3) Winter: as much as I hate the cold, it's also a nice break from the heat during the summer. It means building snow forts with the niece and nephew, seeing V play in the snow for the first time, and CHRISTMAS!!!!

4) Friends: after a couple things hit the fan with a "friend" on FaceBook, I'm grateful for the girls that I can call as real friends. The ones (you know who you are) that I can share my highs and lows, the joys and triumphs, and the giggles of being a Mom and Wife at the same time. And they share those moments with me. It is really refreshing to know that I do have a couple women that I can do that with and know that whatever I tell them, stays between us. Oh, and we can complain about our husbands and kids. In a good way of course ;)

5) Mario on the Wii: as weird as this sounds, I'm grateful/thankful for Mario. Hehe. V doesn't really care for much on the TV, but when we put in a game (or in this case Mario) she is glued to it and just sits there, watching and captivated. I'm thankful for it because while she watching the opening screen over an over again, I can quickly get some stuff done around the house that otherwise would have to wait until nap-time (like sweeping, cleaning the bathroom, etc). So yes, I'm thankful for Mario :)

6) Scrapbooking: Thanks to the likes of my GF's and Ali Edwards, I've really gotten back into my Scrapbooking. Not only is it an outlet for some creativity, but I get to record daily memories of things that we did. And take LOTS if pictures.

7) December Daily: This is going to be an interesting project that I'm gearing up for. Thanks to Ali Edwards (again!) I'm documenting the month of December. It goes by way to fast and I'd like something to remind me as to what happened during an extremely busy month. All my pages are ready to go. Now just waiting for December to get here.

December Daily 2012 Foundation Pages

Welcome to my first attempt at December Daily.
This is a project that Ali Edwards puts on and documents every year. You document every day of December, or how much of it as you want to. I'll probably end up doing the entire month as I have Christmas gatherings right up until the end.
As most scrapbookers do this traditionally, I'll be sticking with my digital scrapbook program for this (like all my other scrapbooking projects). I got rid of a lot of my "traditional" scrapping stuff a while ago and just stick to digital.
The program that I use is Creative Memories StoryBook Creator. I've had it for almost a year now and still love it as much (if not more) than the day I got it. I have the creative freedom to do whatever and however I want with it.
So onto my foundation pages...

This is the first page of the album. I put our family name and the December Daily 2012 header and will add some journaling at a later point.
The album will be 8x8. I'm using the pre-made Holiday Whimsical kit, but only one page out of it.
I took one of the 1-page layouts, adjusted it a bit and during the entire month, I'm going to rotate the page around so that technically it's a different layout everyday.

This is the second page of the album, but the first with photos and journaling about the day.
Have fun!

Dear Violet // 1 Year

You’re 1 year old Baby Girl! And you’ve grown so big! Currently at 21 lbs and 31 inches.
You are very good at scooting around on your bum as your mode of transportation and even trying to stand up with some help. You love walking around the house while holding onto Mommy’s hands.
You’re eating everything in sight. Mashed potatoes, hamburger, chicken and toast (either in butter or Cheez Whiz) are your favourites.
You’re starting to be a little shy when it comes to new people, but when it’s someone you know, you’ll gladly go over to them.
You are even trying to say more words, but right now Mommy & Daddy can’t understand them. Although we do know when you are happy because you’re talking non-stop and squealing with delight.
